She stared at the cookies on the plate. Her mouth wattererd. Her little chubby hand reached up consciously. She looked around. But as she was just an inch away, her mother’s words came to mind. “Sweetie, these are for after dinner. I don’t want you to spoil your dinner.” She started to feel a little guilty. Mommy would be mad at her, she might be in trouble. Well, maybe mommy hadn’t counted the cookies. Maybe if she was quiet and careful she could get away with one. But she started to feel bad. So she pulled her arm back and made her way back. She froze when she saw her mommy standing in the doorway. “Thank you for listening to me, sweetie. Maybe we can have some ice cream after dinner too.”
